Haniff Ahamat (Malaysian Correspondent)

Dr. Haniff Ahamat is an assistant professor at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah (Faculty) of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He has been with AIKOL since 2001. He holds an LL.B. (Hons) from IIUM, an LL.M. from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a Ph.D. from University of Essex, United Kingdom. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the consumer perspectives of Malaysian and EC anti-dumping regimes. Dr. Haniff teaches public international law and legal method at undergraduate level. He is currently developing a course module on international economic law at the master's level in AIKOL. Dr. Haniff has deep interest in researching into and publishing on public international law and international economic law. His key publications are an article on the framework and justifications for intra-OIC trade liberalization, which appeared in the Journal of Economic Cooperation and Development, and another article on the position of Islamic international law on free trade, which was published by Journal of the History of International Law. Md Anowar Zahid(Malaysian Correspodent)

Dr Zahid is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (National University of Malaysia). He received his LL.M. and Ph.D. from Dalhousie University, Canada and the University of Manchester, UK in international and comparative financial law, respectively. He has, to his credit, a good number of publications in internationally acclaimed journals published from North America, Europe and Asia. His teaching and research interests include international law, business law and Islamic law. He is an advisor to the Focal Research Consultants Limited, Halifax, Canada, and a Member of Business and International Law Sections, American Bar Association. Mahmud Zuhdi Mohd Nor (Malaysian Correspondent)

Dr. Mahmud obtained his LL.B (Hons.) degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia (1995), LL.M from the University of Malaya, and Ph.D in Law from University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Currently, he is the Head of Industry and Community Partnerships at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) where he also teaches public International law and cultural heritage law at the same Faculty. He has also been guest lecturer for Marine Law & Policy and Environmental Law at the Faculty of Science and Technology UKM. He is actively engaged in research and academic supervision in these areas. Recently, he was invited to speak on ‘protection of cultural property during armed conflict’ at the 5th ICRC Southeast Asian Teaching Session on International Humanitarian Law at Puri Pujangga, Bangi, Malaysia. The Malaysian national round of Philip C. Jessup International Moot Competition was held at National University of Malaysia (UKM) from February 26 to 28, 2010. 8 Malaysian law schools participated in the competition:
  1. MARA University of Technology (“UiTM”)
  2. International Islamic University Malaysia (“IUM”)
  3. National University of Malaysia (“UKM”)
  4. University of Malaya (“UM”)
  5. Multimedia University (“MMU”)
  6. Universiti Darul Iman Malaysia (“UDM”)
  7. Islamic Science University of Malaysia (“USIM”)
  8. Northern University of Malaysia (“UUM”)
UiTM became the winner this year. The UiTM team which also won the best oralist and best memorial prizes represented Malaysia in the Jessup International Round which was held in Washington D.C. from March 21 to 27, 2010.
