Prof. Sun Young OH

Sun Young Oh is an assistant professor of law at Department of Global Commerce, Soongsil University, Seoul, Korea and Director of Soongsil Economic and Trade Research Institute. She studied law at Ewha Woman’s University (LL.B.) and got an LL.M. (trade regulation) and SJD Degree (international trade and environmental law) from New York University (2005) and American University Washington College of Law (2010), respectively. Professor Oh joined the New York State Bar in 2005. She was a research professor at Yonsei University before joining Soongsil in 2012. Her research interests focus on international trade and environmental law. She is now member of the governing board of the Korean Society of International Economic Law and the Korean Society of International Law. She may be contacted at: sunoh@ssu.ac.kr

Mr. Dae Un HONG, Esq.

Dae Un Hong is currently a JSD candidate at Cornell Law School. He holds a B.A. in International Relations from Seoul National University and a J.D. from Hanyang Law School in Korea. He practiced law in Korea and participated in the government research projects. He has published articles in both US and Korean journals, including Decline of Civil Jury Trial and Changes in Hearsay Rule of Civil Evidence Acts across the World in Pusan Law Review and African Studies in East Asia in Cornell Institute for African Development Bulletin. He has translated more than a dozen books, including To Steal a Book is an Elegant Offense: Intellectual Property Law in Chinese Civilization written by William P. Alford. A. General
  1. The Green Climate Fund, a multi-billion dollar fund to help developing countries adapt to and mitigate climate change, selected the Songdo International Business District, part of Incheon City, as the host city for the fund, on October 24, 2012.
  2. Korea was elected as a non-permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, on October 18, 2012 to serve as a member of the 15-nation council for two years, starting from January 1, 2013.

B. YIJUN Institute of International Law
  1. YIJUN Institute of International Law moved to another office in July 2012 to the following address: 562 Gwangnaruro, Kwangjin-gu #201 Seoul 143-821 Korea
  2. The Journal of East Asia & International Law, listed at SSCI in August 2011, has been also indexed to prestigious academic databases such as SCOPUS, Lexis/Nexis, and WestLaw since June 2012.
  3. Dr. Jay Kun Yoo, chairman of YIJUN Institute had an interview with the Journal of East Asia & International Law in October 8, 2012.
  4. The third YIJUN Global Forum was held on September 19, 2012. Ms. Ahreum Lee at the United Nations delivered a special lecture on the "Role of the United Nations in the 21st Century."

C. International Law Association (Korea Branch)

The Korea branch of the International Law Association co-hosted an international conference on "Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP): Issues and Prospects" on October 26, 2012.


D. Seoul International Law Academy

Center for Climate and Sustainable Development Law and Policy of the Seoul International Law Academy, hosted its 3rd monthly seminar on "International Norms of Climate Change and the Preference Formation in the United States," on June 9, 2012.
